I just commented on a bunch of blogs for the first time in a LONG time–Waylon is napping in the swing, and I should be napping too, but instead I’m taking advantage of this time to do some two-handed typing and watch a movie with GB.
(Yeah, I should be writing my teaching philosophy or drafting cover letters or something…Ugh. I’ll get to it.)
Ooh, speaking of movies, we watched Shine A Light last night, and totally dug it. (But I love Scorsese rockumentaries (yes, I said it) in general.) Yeah. It made me about as happy as that goddamn other movie pissed me off.
Big stress of the day: Waylon gets his 2 month vaccinations tomorrow. I have been stressing out about this for weeks now, and I’m so stressed about them that my stomach’s all in knots. I’ve done a *ton* of research on vaccines, and the short-term and long-term effects (at least as much as we know…and damn, there’s a lot of propaganda on this topic out there). Anyway. I feel like I’m making an informed decision going into this, but I’m still not happy about it. I’m hoping Waylon doesn’t feel too crappy tomorrow. And I’m hoping I don’t cry too much.

Vaccinations are never fun. I guarantee it will be worse for you, though!!! Get your baby acetaminophen (Tempra, Tylenol, whatever) ready and expect some fussing and possibly more napping.
Yay for swings and two handed typing, BTW!!

I think I have a vague memory of some sort of vaccine from when I was a kid. Or else, I think it is my memory, but it might really be from a TV show. I can’t really tell anymore…

I second the small dose of baby tylenol before he gets the shots, but most doctors will ask if you’d like them to give the baby a little pain med before they get the shot.

Yeah, we always had Power Napping after shots. It was a side-effect we could live with, you know? I hope that’s the only side-effect you guys experience, too.
OMG, though. He is SO DAMN CUTE.

I’ll be interested to hear how it goes. I stupidly scheduled Yo’s 2mo vaccinations on a day that I teach (but the appt is at 9am and I teach at 5pm), and I’m wondering if I should change the appt to a non-teaching day.

eek, good luck with the shots tomorrow. and ooh, so cute!

congratulations on achieving a few minutes to yourself! Waylon is clearly a budding scholar; I know my lectures have been successful when my students have that same “thinking hard/achieving knowledge” look! Waylon’s onesie in the last picture was also totally adorable! š
My hubby got me started on rockumentaries – I have seen The Last Waltz about a hundred times, and have also really enjoyed Stop Making Sense (the Talking Heads being one of his other favorites!).

D never had any trouble with vaccines- in fact we MOVED across the country the day after her 2-3* month vaccinations and she was just really sleepy. That was a dream for us on the plane, since we also had our cat with us! Arrghhh!
*I think the schedule was a little different then- they did 3-months instead of 2 or something.

Whew! I just got done catching up. Damn, that kid is cool.

I swear, the boy should be in movies he is such a cutie. I like want to make captions up for his photos. (Given that I was with GF’s nephews, this is begging for a caption that includes the word knuckle-sandwich.)

Loved Shine a Light!
