This song is an integral part of my “dangerous mood” personal soundtrack. It came on the other day in the car and got me thinking about those itchy, antsy, right-on-the-edge feelings, wandering around the city on hot summer nights with a bottle of tequila in my backpack. Made me want to share it with you. If you lived near me, I’d wait until we’d been drinking for hours and then I’d open up a couple more beers and bring the CD player out on the porch with us and play this song for you.
He said, “I’ll pull you down”
She said “Yeah, I know you will.
But I’ve been through worse detours + ambulance traps.”
+ as he moves his blind side to the back, she says yeah
you’re not going anywhere tonight.
So another lil shover just moved along again.
She’d said she still had trouble left in her
and wasn’t about to give in
“Signing nothing over at the blink of an eye”
And here in the house of spirits there’s a ghost with a drink.
And he’s gone through every opening
but the breaths just aren’t as deep or wild,
and less than there’s ever really been in quite a lonely while.
Countdown to a new town
honey let’s pull on out tonight.
Your braided hair’s been pulling us into our lives.
Of course I’ll show.
Of course I’ll fire.
And I’ll pull
along
you
for
miles.

I don’t know what it means, but I love the line “another lil shover just moved along again”…

I almost never know what any of the lines mean, but I love them. 🙂

Ooh I love it! Now I want to hear it….headed over to Amazon to check out the album.
Plus, I really like the idea of a dangerous mood soundtrack. I know that antsy, on the edge feeling. Tequila is so the right drink for that mood.
And I like that you are into the lyrics. I have a harder time liking a song if I don’t like the lyrics. In fact, one thing that I actually like about my family is that we are all alike in this regard. We listen to music together, and we talk about the lyrics and what they might mean. We’ve done this pretty much ever since my brothers got into guitar and classic rock and since my dad reignited his obsession with Bob Dylan.

Tequila IS the right drink for the dangerous mood, b/c (well at least in my case) it ALWAYS leads to Horrible Mistakes 🙂 LB, can you make us a “dangerous mood” mix CD? We can order them from you, a little supplemental income for the summer…

Oh dear. Now I know what I’m doing this afternoon.
I’ve been wanting to make a mix anyway, but needed a theme. I’ll get back to y’all later with the results of the Dangerous Mood mix CD. MaggieMay, maybe we should all make one….? 🙂

Oooh, I LOVE that idea. LOVE. IT. GAH! MUST WORK ON BOOK! OK, I’ll get some work done, and then making a mix might be my “reward” later…

Actually…I’m realizing that I can’t make a dangerous mix in the middle of a sunny afternoon. I’ll work on it tonight or tomorrow night…got most of the songs in place, but I’ll have to see how it sounds after the sun sets. 🙂
